What is the history of Body Glove?

Bob and Bill Mestrell are twins who were born on separate days.  They always had an interest in the water and were taught to swim by their older brother who happened to be a lifeguard.  At the age of 14, they created their own diving helmet.  In 1944, the family moved to Manhattan Beach and the brothers fell in love with the ocean, despite the pollution issues.

Much later after graduation, they had the desire to combat the cold water of California.  They tried many different ideas and then in 1953, the brothers stumbled across neoprene.  This was the insulation material that was found in the back part of refrigerators.  Next, Body Glove was born.

In 1990, they were inducted into the Pioneers of Surfing and the Scuba Diving Hall of Fame.  Today, they continue to dive regularly off their 70 ft yacht.
