Camp out, dive to your heart’s content, partake in informative clinics, and get a look at what’s new in scuba gear. These are just a few things that the organizers of Anglesey Scuba Fest have in store for participants! This family-friendly event offers something for everyone.
The Anglesey Scuba Fest – When
The annual Anglesey Scuba Fest will be taking place from Saturday, 15 August, to Sunday, 16 August. Participants are encouraged to arrive Friday, 14 August, so as not to miss any of the fun.
The Anglesey Scuba Fest – Where
The Anglesey Scuba Fest happens at The Anglesey Outdoor Centre, which has been exclusively hired for the weekend. The centre offers 14 acres of ground, with camping available for tents and touring pitches. Caravans are welcome, however there are no electric hookups available. Clubs and dive centers are welcome to hire a yurt to use as their home base, and members are encouraged to pitch their tents around the yurt hired by their group.
Breakfast and hot beverages are included in all adult and child camping bookings for Friday and Saturday night. Amenities onsite include separate male and female hot showers, WiFi, fridge and freezer for general use, lockable storage, and much more.
The Anglesey Scuba Fest – Event Highlights
Unlimited shore diving along the beautiful coast of North Wales is just one of the exciting things this event has to offer.
BSAC, PADI, SAA, and SSI will be on hand to answer questions about diver training, and a PADI Discover Scuba Diving Experience will be available for those who are interested in trying scuba for the first time.
You’ll have the opportunity to try out Weezle Wear thermal protection while diving, plus you can try out some shiny new toys from top manufacturers including Atomic, BARE, BigBlue Lighting Systems, Mares, Liquid Sports, Seac, Sharkskin, Stahlsac, Suunto, and Ursuit. Apeks Aqua Lung will have new regulators, BCDs, masks, and fins to try, too. Finally, don’t forget to try a drysuit from Whites.
Want to try freediving or improve your freediving skills? Be sure to sign up for the SSI apnea workshop. Other workshops and classes including sidemount diving with Simply Sidemount’s Garry Dallas.
There will be live music, the opportunity to socialize with like-minded divers, plus a fun beachcombing experience for kids. If you’d like to skip out on the cooking, a chili / curry night will happen on Friday, and a special hog roast will take place Saturday evening.
Finally, you can sign up for RHIB dives to sites not accessible from shore.
The Anglesey Scuba Fest – Places to Stay and Things to See
In the event you don’t want to camp out for the Scuba Fest, you’ll find a variety of accommodations available at various price points. Bed and Breakfasts, inns, and small hotels are just a short distance away.
Anglesey Outdoor Centre is located adjacent to a beautiful, natural area with hiking available. In addition to the opportunity to explore the natural beauty of Wales, you can visit the Anglesey Sea Zoo. Kids 12 and under get in free by mentioning that they’re attending the scuba fest.
