While some people with a psychiatric disorder can dive, those who possess one or more of the following conditions should not be allowed to dive: anyone with a history of panic attacks, the “dragooned reluctant” diver, the “counter phobe”, the “macho buccaneer”, an individual with a true psychotic disorder, and a person who has a chronic substance abuse problem for drugs and/or alcohol.
