Why do I need special training for solo diving?

When it comes to solo diving you are diving alone.  While most dive training prepares divers to rely on others when there is an emergency, solo divers must be trained to handle emergency situations on their own.  In other words, solo divers must be self-sufficient.  They must also learn new ways of dive planning that account for their solo nature, and they must be well prepared and well practiced.
