What do sponges look like?

Sponges come in two basic forms, branching tubes or large symmetrical masses.  The ones found in the tropics are brightly colored while others are more drab in appearance.  When found in plenty in tropical waters they look like an amazing tropical underwater garden, even though they are animals instead of plants.
