Use the following steps to submit a dive log on JustGottaDive.com:
Login to your account. Click the “My Account” link in the top right, then select the “My Contributions” tab. Next, click the “Submit Dive Log” link that appears, then submit your dive log using the following procedure:
- Create a title for your dive log.
- Select a location from the drop-down menus provided, then select a dive site location and dive site.
- Attach a main photo using the “Browse” button. After selecting “Browse,” a media browser will pop up.
The “Upload” tab will allow you to add a new photo. While on this tab, you can click “Choose file” to find a photo from your local hard drive, next highlight the photo you wish to add and click “Open” to select it and then click “Upload” to load the photo into the media browser. You may click “Remove” if you no longer wish to share the photo. Click “Next” to enter a title, description, copyright information for the photo, along with any keywords you would like to use to describe the photo. Click “Save” when finished, or “Previous” to go back and make changes.
Alternatively, you may use the “My Files” tab to choose a photo that you previously shared on Just Gotta Dive (JGD). While on this tab, you can enter your photo’s file name in the box and click apply, then select the photo and click “Submit”.
- Add details in the “Description” field. Include anything that stood out about the dive, mention equipment used, or talk about unique encounters you had with marine life.
- Under specifics, enter the date, start time, and finish time for the dive you are logging.
- Rate the dive site by mousing over the stars located in the “My Rating” field.
- Select at least one type of dive from the drop-down menu in the “Dive Type” field.
- Choose the type of water in which the dive was conducted from the drop-down menu in the “Water” field.
- Enter your dive time in minutes in the “Dive Time” field
- Enter the depth, in feet, for the maximum depth you reached during the dive in the “Maximum Depth” field.
- Select “Yes” or “No” from the drop-down menu in the “Decompression Dive” field.
- Select “Yes” or “No” from the drop-down menu in the “Repetitive Dive” field.
- Select the method you used to access the dive site in the “Dive Site Access” field. In addition, choose the approximate amount of time it took you to access the dive site from the drop-down menu labeled “Time.”
- Select a value from the drop-down menu in the “Current” field.
- Select a value from the drop-down menu in the “Visibility” field.
- Select a value from the drop-down menu in the “Altitude Level” field.
- Optional values you can enter include weather, air temperature, and water temperature; choose your answers from the drop-down menus in each field.
- There are several activities you can choose from the drop-down menu in the “Activities” field, which is also optional. Enter as many as you like.
- Additional optional fields to fill include your dive buddy’s name, the name of your dive computer if applicable, which type of exposure protection you used, and information about your dive tank and its starting and ending pressure values. You can also enter information about the dive weights you used for the dive you are logging.
- Enter some keywords that will help others to find this dive log. You must enter at least one keyword, but entering more will increase your log’s ranking in searches.
- Attach additional photos if you have them, using “Browse”.
- Attach additional videos if you have them, using “Browse”.
- Click “Preview” to see what your finished dive log will look like. If you are satisfied, click “Save” to publish.
