Nudibranchs gain their bright colors from the food that they eat and this bright coloring has a couple of advantages for the survival of the nudibranch. One advantage is for camouflage. These creatures often live around brightly colored coral reefs and blending in with their surroundings offers them some protection. In addition to this, as with many other types of animals in the world, their bright colors tend to warn off predators as they don't taste very good and some may even be poisonous.
