What year did people first start experimenting with underwater discovery that would later become "SCUBA DIVING"?

In a publication entitled “Problemata”, Alexander the Great shares a story about him being lowered into the sea inside a device similar to a crudely made diving bell during the siege of Tyre.  Although historians are unsure how much of the story is accurate, this documentation does prove that as far back as 332 BC, at minimum people were talking about underwater exploration.
