What famous entertainer played a key role in the design of a quick release dive suit?

Harry Houdini, a famous escape artist and magician was also an inventor.  Wowing audiences with his incredible ability to escape straitjackets, locked boxes, and other captive devices, often while being underwater, Houdini turned his knowledge to scuba diving.  In 1921, Houdini invented the “Houdini Suit”, a quick release dive suit that would allow divers to free themselves quickly if faced with danger underwater, thereby reaching the surface quicker and safely.
