How long can I dive on a tank of air?

A good rule of thumb is that an average person could dive for 30 minutes at a depth of 18 m (60 feet) with a standard aluminum tank filled to 3000 psi.  However, how long you can dive on a tank of air will depend on the tank pressure, the tank volume, the depth of the dive, the water temperature, the workload, and your rate of breathing.
