How extensive is the shark fossil record?

The fossil record of sharks is mostly made up of shark teeth.  Because the skeleton is made of cartilage, it is rarely preserved as cartilage decomposes too quickly.  However, shark teeth are found in abundance in the fossil record and they show that sharks have been around for 400 million years and have changed very little during that time.
