How do corals reproduce?

Corals reproduce in a variety of ways, depending on the type of coral.  Some corals are hermaphrodites, meaning they carry both male and female genetic material and others are strictly male or female and form in male or female colonies.  Some corals reproduce when the sperm from one coral is passed into the mouth of another coral where the larva grows within the body of the mother.  Other species of coral simply release their eggs and sperm in one event and they fertilize in the water.
