Do I need specialized equipment for solo diving?

When it comes to solo diving there is no specialized equipment, but rather you have to ensure you have extra of what you will need if you get into trouble.  In other words double up on the life support equipment so that if your main equipment fails, you will have a backup ready to go.  You should have with you:

  • A twin cylinder setup with isolation manifold and two regulators or a scuba cylinder with pony bottle setup

  • Two cold water regulators

  • A depth gauge and bottom timer/dive computer and backups of each

  • An exposure suit that is appropriate for the diving environment

  • A SMB/lift bag and reel (minimum 10kg. lift bag)
