Cephalopods have excellent vision. Octopuses have been shown to be able to distinguish the brightness, size, orientation, and shape of an object. Cephalopods have the most complex eyes of all invertebrates and their eyes are as complex as those of a mammal, although structured differently. It is interesting to note that despite their exceptional vision, all octopi and most cephalopods are color blind. There is also an exception to the superior vision of cephalopods and that is with the nautilus. The nautilus has no solid lens and has a pinhole eye, which means that the creature's vision is not good. One final note on cephalopod eyes is that the giant squid has the largest eyes of any creature on earth and can be as big as (14 inches).
