Can I dive if I have breast cancer?

Tumors in the breasts are not uncommon in women over the age of 30.  When a tumor is cancerous, surgery is generally used to remove it and this treatment is often followed with radiation and chemotherapy.  Radiation and chemotherapy do harm to the body, including the lungs, and can sap a person’s energy.  This makes diving unwise.  It is best to finish your course of treatment first and then consult with your doctor to ensure that your lungs are not damaged enough to cause pulmonary barotrauma and to ensure that you are fully healed from surgery.
