Are fish dangerous to humans?

Most fish are perfectly harmless.  However, there are a few that have the potential to be dangerous and at the forefront of these are some species of sharks, particularly great white and tiger sharks.  There are also some venomous fish that can seriously harm a human.  These include sting rays, stonefish, scorpion fish, catfish, and sturgeon fish, although the latter two just have poisonous spines on their bodies and don’t attack.  Stingrays and stonefish generally don’t attack and only sting when stepped on, but their stings are very painful and can be very damaging and even deadly.
