Will marine life attack a diver who is wearing bright colors or patterns?

Marine animal behavior specialists recommend that divers not wear anything or display any behaviors that might in some way mimic marine life or otherwise attract the attention of marine predators.  There are only a handful of marine predators that would attack a human and although these attacks are rare, they do happen.  Sharks are presumed to be attracted by surface splashing, which might make them think a seal is nearby.  If they then see bright colors or pictures of marine animals on a wetsuit, they may attack.  Barracuda are attracted to surface splashing and to bright shiny objects.  In general, it is safe to say that blending in is better.
