How can I best prepare myself to handle a dive rescue?

In order to be best prepared to handle dive emergencies and to perform dive rescues, you must be up to date on your CPR and First Aid training.  You should also become a Rescue Diver if diving is something you will do on a regular basis.  Once you are trained, you should stay fit, regularly practice self-rescue techniques, practice in water rescue breathing techniques with others, and be sure to carry your First Aid kit with you at all times.  You can also obtain certifications as an Underwater Navigator, a Search and Rescue Diver, in Emergency First Response, and Emergency Oxygen Provider, all of which will help you be better prepared for a dive rescue and/or dive emergency.
