Do I need specialized equipment for cave diving?

Yes, there are a number of items you will need for cave diving in addition to the regular dive gear of mask, fins, snorkel, and wetsuit.  In fact, the rule of thumb for cave divers is to carry double or even triple of everything.  It is not uncommon for divers to carry two or three cylinders.  Divers also need a primary light and generally carry two backups.  Cave divers also generally carry a knife and a backup knife in order to cut themselves out when they become entangled.  If the water is cold, then a drysuit is worn.  Cave divers also prefer a more compact mask and they always carry a guideline that will lead them back to their entry point and markers (both directional and non-directional) to mark important points along the way.  A depth gauge and timer are also important and many cave divers carry a waterproof notebook that can be used for communication and to record reference information.
