Can coral color tell us about the health of the coral?

The healthier the coral is, the more zooxanthellae algae is living with the polyps.  This means that the color of the coral reefs, specifically the brightness and saturation, can give an indication of the coral’s level of health.  The less bright the coral, the less zooxanthellae and this means a lower level of health for the coral.
