Manager's Log - Bilikiki - Solomon Islands

July 29 - August 8 was another excellent 10 night trip here in the Solomon Islands. We were joined this time by divers from New Zealand, United States and Australia. The weather was in our favour most of the time with good days at Mary and in Marovo Lagoon, nice sunshine and calm waters.

The diving is still beautiful with sharks and turtles swimming by, sometimes eagle rays and even hunting tunas! It looks like the ghost pipe fish season is coming, we have seen both robust and ornate pipe fish in the Russell Islands.

A juvenile ribbon eel showed up in the Florida Islands right at Tanavula West. The usual but incredible critters like pigmy seahorses, cuttlefish, octopus, nudibranchs, flat worms, anemone fish (9 types), shrimps and much more are still making this place very unique with its wide variety of marine life.

Photographers enjoyed both the macro and wide angle options we have here in the Solomon Islands. Wrecks were colourful and packed with soft corals, glass fish inside their cracks along with big groupers being cleaned, and at the Maru II we watch a turtle just posing for our guest who were very carefully taking pictures it. We also have the privilege to visit some of the islands to appreciate their culture, buy some local carvings and enjoying some custom dances.

Thanks again to the Solomon Islands, the Bilikiki crew and all the guest for a wonderful 10 days trip. Daniela, Csaba and the rest of the Bilikiki Crew and Team.
