Two Weeks, 20 Dives, and our Underwater Wedding Vows Renewal in Grenada

After two years with no vacation, we decided to renew our vows plus splurge on a huge hotel and dive package. Stayed at the Villa Beachcliff and enjoyed daily diving with Dive Grenada. The villa was amazing, and the diving was as expected, just outstanding. Some highlights:

The sculpture park in Molinere Bay was one of my favorite spots. We decided to include this one after seeing it on National Geographic’s list of the Earth’s Most Awesome Places. It is part of the Marine Protected Area, and on our dives at various sites throughout the MPA, we saw manta rays, stingrays, seahorses, and a mind boggling array of fish.

We also got the opportunity to visit the Bianca C wreck, which is notoriously nicknamed “Titanic of the Caribbean.” 600 feet long, this sunken ocean liner is just awesome. The dive started at the swimming pool, and as we worked our way forward, we saw large moray eels, nurse sharks, and a few big eagle rays. At the tip of the bow, we hung for a moment at 30 meters, peering down to the hull, which sits at 50 meters, just marveling at the sheer size of the structure.

Other wrecks we visited were the Buccaneer, MV Shakem, and the MV Veronica. We took an additional night dive on the Veronica, which is covered in soft corals.

Happy Valley, with soft corals and sponges, French angelfish, and an old admiralty anchor, was very nice, and Flamingo Bay, which has quite a lot of Elkhorn coral plus some massive barrel sponges, was another scenic spot. Other sites we visited were Shark Reef, Purple Rain, and Red Buoy, where there are more than 20 old admiralty anchors stuck in the reef wall.

Last but not least, we got to enjoy several dives along Boss Reef, where we saw some unusual species including trunkfish and squirrel fish!

We will definitely be back for more in the future. Although we got the opportunity to see many of Grenada’s best dive sites, there is lots more to see. I feel as if we barely scratched the surface.
